plastic surgery - preoperative tests

Many plastic surgeons solicit preoperative tests before any plastic surgery. The required tests depend on the type of plastic surgery, type of anesthesia, age and patient's physical condition.

blood count

This test analyzes the components of the blood and informs when there are problems of anemia or blood coagulation.

biochemical blood analysis

This test measures the concentration of various chemicals and warns when the chemical concentration make the plastic surgery unsafe.

electrocardiogram

This test measures the electrical signals from the heart and determines issues that must be solved before plastic surgery. Normally, the plastic surgeons require an electrocardiogram to the patients above 45 years-old.

chest X-ray

It helps to recognize a pneumonia or heart failure. These conditions may postpone the plastic surgery until they are resolved.

pregnancy

If you are pregnant inform your plastic surgeon, this avoids risk to the foetus development. Many plastic surgeons requires test of pregnancy in the patients in fertile age.

mammography

Most plastic surgeons require mammography for their patients over 40 years before any breast plastic surgery - to prove the inexistence of breast cancer.
